Violeta Bubelytė is a photography artist who has created, as art critic Agnė Narušytė put it, “a decades-long performance”, a life-long and meaningfully constructed series of photos which stand out for their authentic artistic approach. Violeta Bubelytė has been interested in nudes since she was young, in soviet times, when any discourse of nudity and erotica was considered a taboo even in art. The young artist was attracted by what nobody else did at that time, what was forbidden and almost never referred to officially.
Violeta Bubelytė worked for the magazine for women “Moteris” in 1996 to 1998 and had a job of a photo journalist with the weekly, then daily “Verslo žinios” in 1998 to 2016. She got the distinction award Artist FIAP from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) in 1999 and is a member of the Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers. She was awarded the Lithuanian Government Art and Culture Award in 2014 and the annual prize of the Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers in 2018. Her works are kept in the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, National Library in Paris, private collections in Lithuania and abroad.
